Diploma in Holistic Massage, Anatomy & Physiology

Aim of Course: To enable candidates to obtain a Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology as a pre-requisite to training in additional therapy treatments as well as enabling candidates to perform safe and effective massage treatments.

Holistic Massage is a deep or moderate relaxing massage treatment that treats the mind, body and spirit. It is one of the most popular forms of modern massage offering a relaxing and nurturing experience to your clients. This is a complete full body massage treatment which includes: legs, back, abdomen, feet, hands, face, head, shoulders, neck, and upper torso.

This is an excellent foundation course for Students wishing to pursue a very enjoyable and rewarding career in complementary therapies or further study. Upon completion of the course successful graduates will be qualified to carry out a full body holistic massage as a Holistic Therapist working in many areas including Leisure and Health, Salons and Spas, Sporting clubs, cruise ships or work from your own home.

Anatomy & Physiology

Study of the following: The Cell & Tissues, The Skin, Skeleton System, Muscular System, Circulatory & Lymphatic Systems, Nervous System, Endocrine System, Respiratory System, Digestion System, Urinary System, Reproduction System

Massage Techniques

This course teaches techniques of full body Holistic Massage incorporating the 5 Sweedish classical movements of effleurage, petrissage, tapotment, friction and vibration. This enables you, the therapist to provide full body massage of the legs, back neck, shoulders, abdomen, arms, face, scalp hand & foot massage. At CBA we place great emphasis on posture and energy awareness allowing our students to become truly Holistic therapists

Massage Theory

History of Massage, Effects & Benefits, Consultation & Treatment, Common ailments and contraindications, Integral Biology, Stress management other Therapies. Towel Draping for client modesty, Client Care, Home Care Advice,

Educational prerequisites: Students should have Leaving Certificate Biology or an equivalent qualification. Applications are invited from mature students with out this qualification.

Commences September 2011
Tuesday evenings from 6-9 pm and Thursday evenings 6-9 pm
Course Fee: €1600 (includes books, & uniforms)
